Wild, Wild West (K-2nd)
Giddyup, cowpokes – we’re gonna have a rootin’, tootin’ good time! We’ll rustle up a whole lot of fun reading tall tales, learning to talk like cowboys and cowgirls and singing songs around the campfire. We’ll do some cookin’, learn some rope tricks, have horse races and rattlesnake throws and pan for gold! Gather your wagons – we’re gonna have a rip-roarin’ trip to the Wild West.
Jumba, Dance & Tumbling (K-2nd) - NEW!
This class is known for fun, fitness and rhythm. Campers will learn up to four different dance routines and moves while improving coordination and confidence in movement. Campers will also work on tumbling basics including cartwheels, round-offs and back-walkovers. No experience necessary. This is a Jump Bunch class.
Video Game Maker (K-2nd) - NEW!
Campers will create their own sprites, backgrounds and power-ups for their games. They will also learn to write code to create enemies in their games and variables to keep score. This is a Coder Kids class.
Passport to Adventure (K-2nd)
Grab your passport and pack your bag. Join us as we “travel” to faraway places. Each day a new country will be on the itinerary and each destination will bring opportunities to learn and explore some of the things that make that place special, whether it is the food, culture, landmarks, animals, weather, art or music. Games and crafts will also be part of the fun in this whirlwind trip to five countries in five days!
Create a Country (3rd-6th)
Imagine a world just the way you want it to be – your favorite food grows on trees, the flag is a picture of your favorite animal, the national anthem is your favorite song. In this unique class, you’ll create a fantasy country to your own specifications. Once you’ve discovered what elements define a country, you’ll set to work on inventing your own original country and its map, flag, currency, system of government and national symbols. On Friday, we’ll invite other campers to our own travel agency and display our week’s worth of fun!
Summer at Hogwarts (3rd-6th)
Leave the Muggle world behind and enter a magical world filled with wizards, house elves, cauldrons, invisibility cloaks, floo networks, Marauders’ Maps and the elusive Golden Snitch! We’ll make wands and magical pets, concoct potions and cast charms, visit Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade, sample chocolate frogs and Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans and, of course, play a game of Quidditch. Not even He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named could spoil the fun at Hogwarts.
Ocean Explorers (3rd-6th)
Come find the answers to all of your oceanographic questions as we explore the water, movement, animals and plants that make up the earth’s fascinating seas, through hands-on experiments, fun activities and take-home projects. Examine starfish, squid and other creatures up close!
Let’s Get the Ball Rolling (3rd-6th)
It’s a week of designing, building and testing ramp structures with physical science and engineering for the younger set! You will participate in activities designed to maximize the fun while you discover how to build a ramp to make a ball go far, fast and even uphill. Playing games, using spinning tops and making spin art keeps the fun moving, too!
Preschool After-care (if needed / until 6 p.m.)
Preschool after-care runs from 12-6 p.m. and is located in the lower school building. Preschoolers will eat their lunch (brought from home) directly after morning camp class dismissal. An afternoon snack is provided by camp every day. Nap/rest time is included in after-care; this is a Commonwealth of Virginia Department of Social Services licensing requirement. After-care activities could include indoor and outdoor play, story time, art activities and games. After-care attendance is billed at a rate of $12 per camper, per hour. Charges will be calculated in half-hour increments and billed at the end of each week. A $50 late fee will be applied to any after-care fees not paid one week after receiving the invoice. (K-6 and preschool after-care are run separately; K-6 after-care is available 3:45-6 p.m.)
