Our Program

This program is available for rising 8th graders up to age 15. The AIT role is designed to provide hands-on learning and mentorship from experienced staff members. Over the summer, participants develop leadership skills and build strong relationships with campers. This program goes beyond the role itself, helping prepare AITs for future leadership while positively influencing those around them.

If you’re 16 or older and interested in working as a paid camp counselor, please click the application to apply now. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to our Camp Director, Ms. Rier, at camp@pinecrestschool.org.

What does it mean to be an AIT?

This program not only creates fun and makes a positive impact on campers’ lives, but also supports AITs in their own personal growth. Participants gain valuable skills in leadership and service while building lasting memories and meaningful relationships.
Duties include:
  • Assist Counselors – Support camp counselors during activities, games, and daily routines.
  • Lead Small Activities – Help guide younger campers in structured activities or crafts under supervision.
  • Model Positive Behavior – Demonstrate kindness, respect, and good sportsmanship for campers.
  • Support Camper Engagement – Encourage participation, help shy campers join in, and foster a positive environment.
  • Help with Setup & Cleanup – Assist in preparing materials for activities and tidying up spaces afterward.
  • Learn Leadership Skills – Observe and practice decision-making, teamwork, and problem-solving.
  • Mentor Younger Campers – Offer guidance, encouragement, and support to campers in a caring way.
  • Follow Safety Procedures – Help ensure campers stay safe and adhere to camp rules at all times.

When will I know when and where I'll be working?

The program runs for all summer sessions. Depending on your availability and camper interest, you can choose how many weeks you want to participate.
  • Registration is for full sessions only; prorated pricing is not available. AITs are expected to work from 8:15 AM to 3:35 PM unless prior arrangements are made with camp administration.

Is there an interview process?

While we do not have an interview, those wanting to join the program must apply, register, and then do an orientation in late May that concludes with a comprehension check.
  • More information about this will be emailed after application and registration are submitted.

Is there a fee for this?

Yes, the program costs $125 per session. For more details about fees, please visit our Fees, Registration, and Forms page.
