FAQ

Drop-off:

  • Many families may choose to have their students stay in after-care prior to the scheduled after-school activity time. K-6 After-care begins at 3:45 and ends at 6:00 pm. Preschool after-care begins at 12:05 and ends at 6:00 pm.
  • Some families may choose to pick-up their student at the scheduled dismissal time, and drop them off in-time for the activity. If this is the case, please communicate this with Pinecrest, and check-in your child at the front desk prior to the class.

Pick-up:

  • When you come to pick up your child from an after-school activity, please park in a parking spot (not the loop) and call the school at 703-354-3446 and say the following, “Hi, I am here to pick up ____(your child’s name)___ in ___(your child’s class)___.”  Examples: “Hi, I am here to pick up Deonte Gardner in 2nd grade from Soccer Class.” or “Hi, I am here to pick up Jamie Tu in first grade from Music Lessons.” You do not need to provide additional information, and speaking slowly and clearly is best.
  • If the class is still ongoing, the after-care staff member on the phone will direct you to wait in your car until the class is complete. Then, they will escort all of the students being picked up after the class is finished.
  • Any student who’s family has not called expressing they are in the parking lot or previously communicated planned pick-up after the activity will be signed in to after-care once the class is finished.

Pinecrest plans to re-schedule or provide a credit for cancelled classes due to unforeseen circumstances (for example: unexpected weather cancellations).

All students who stay in after-care and for after-school activities will eat their snacks from 3:35-3:45. Students who are picked up at dismissal time and dropped off at the time of their activity will not have a scheduled Pinecrest snack time.

Yes! Many families decide to put their child/children in after-care before and after the after-school activities. Any student whose family has not called expressing they are in the parking lot or previously communicated planned pick-up after the activity will be signed in to after-care once the class is finished.

We’re excited about these courses this Quarter, and we will use this as a time to evaluate to see what we could add or bring back in further Quarters.

Please note that some offerings, beginning in the winter months, are year-long commitments that will continue across other seasons and Quarters.

If a class does not meet the minimum number of students required upon registration, then the class will not be offered.

The maximum class size means that space is limited within our classes, and is on a first-come basis.
