Update #7

UPDATE 1.24.23

Dear Pinecrest Community,

As our Head of School search advances, we are excited to provide an update from the Search Committee. Following virtual interviews with eight highly qualified semi-finalist candidates last week, three finalists have been identified and invited to visit Pinecrest in early February. We selected these educational leaders after a robust search, dossier review, reference calls, and interview process conducted by the full Search Committee, supported by our consultant, Tracy Bennett of Educators Collaborative.

Each finalist will spend two days at Pinecrest touring the school, visiting classes, and meeting with faculty, staff, parents, board members, students, Ms. McDermott, and the Search Committee. We will share information about each finalist a few days prior to their visit. We hope that you will have the opportunity to welcome each finalist and help them to learn about our wonderful school and community.

Please mark your calendars for the the finalist visits scheduled for:

  • February 1-2

  • February 6-7

  • February 8-9

It is important that this process continues to be inclusive to all members of our wonderful community, which is why each visit will have two options for a Parent Forum and multiple opportunities for faculty and staff to meet the candidates. At the conclusion of each visit, you will have an opportunity to share your feedback through an online survey, which will help inform the Search Committee’s deliberations. We encourage you to please meet all the candidates and provide your valuable feedback. We also want our candidates to fully experience the warmth and generous spirit of our Pinecrest community!

Following these visits, the Search Committee will make a hiring recommendation to the Board of Directors for final approval with the goal of announcing our new Head of School in late February.

Throughout this process, we continue to be reminded about what a truly unique and special community we have created and continue to nurture at Pinecrest. Educational leaders from across the country have been drawn to this opportunity, inspired by our outstanding program, deeply rooted values, and enduring commitment to diversity and inclusion. In the words of one candidate, “I want to be part of a school that cultivates a community of diverse learners, affirms individual uniqueness, and fosters connections across differences. I also want to be at a school with intentionality in the number of students it serves, empowers students to be life-long learners, and focuses on serving students socially, emotionally, and academically. It is clear that Pinecrest School is all of these things.”

We look forward to introducing our finalists to you in February!

Sincerely,

Steve Donahoe
